Love is learning.

Learning to take steps back and forth.

Learning to cultivate the air between movement and experience.

Both having a love of God. Respect, kindness and trust for that significant other. Your willingness to lay down your life for that person. Every waking hour and many times sleeping hour, that special person is in your thoughts. Counting the days until you 2 can share your lives. The ultimate act of love being having a family together.

Love is someone who is willing to blare your favorite song just to see you smile.

The story of our first kiss: We've been dating almost a month and I hadn't kissed her yet, although I had written her a poem about what a first kiss could mean. We recently went to the new James Bond movie and that gave me an idea. The next date was dinner at her house. After dinner I suggested going for a walk. Once outside I asked if she would mind a short drive before walking (We were heading to the local airport). About halfway there, she asked where we were going. I told her it was a secret mission. As we approached the entrance to the airport, she asked "What are we doing here?" I told you it was a secret mission. Just pretend you are with James Bond. Now every mission is different, but they are basically the same: 1) Kill the bad guy, 2) Save the day, and 3) Kiss the girl. She was smiling now. As we pulled up to an empty office, she asked "Are we getting out of the car?" I said yeah, we gotta save the day. I took her by the arm and we slowly made our way past the office building and an airplane hanger that appeared to have no activity. I told her to be very quiet and not to make a sound. As we approached and stepped onto the nearest runway, I said "We have to hurry. An airplane could be landing any minute. We looked both ways down the runway. Not a plane in sight and there wasn't a sound. I then said to her, remember the poem? We only have one chance at a first kiss. Make it a good one! She then took her glasses off and then gave me a 20 second kiss that I will never forget. After our kiss I looked at her and said, "mission accomplished". We kissed again and headed back for the car. That was our memorable first kiss, just last week. I can email you the poem if you want. And we can reenact the kiss if you would like that too.

Being velcrowed to your soul mate... never wanting to leave each other's side not even for a second. Having to peel yourself away in order to go to work or get out of bed, and counting down the hours until we can see each other again.

Waking up every morning and thanking God for giving you a love that is beyond your wildest dreams, the kind people make epic love stories about.

Getting wrapped up in each others arms for hours at a time, just staring into each other's eyes; heart to heart, chest to chest, nose to nose.

Dancing around the living room in sweatpants pretending it's our first dance at our wedding reception.

Talking about our hopes, dreams & future each and every day just praying for God to give us the opportunity to take the next step together hand in hand... being true believers and that anything is possible with God.

Being so blissfully happy that people say "gag me" when you describe the sweet & incredibly thoughtful act that he's done for me... and realizing how few people get to experience this once in a life time love that we have.

Being scared together about the uncertain future with our careers, finances, families & state that this world is in. But being certain that we wouldn't want to go through any of that without the other.

Praying each night, hands clasped together and making Sunday morning church our main priority each weekend.

Smelling his favorite sweatshirt as I slip it on each morning before he makes me my coffee. Then heading downstairs & getting kissed on forehead as I nuzzle in behind his shoulder to warm up while we watch the news.

Praying that we get to grow old with one another, raise a family, support our family and watch it grow and that we get to hold each other and be inseperable as long as we both shall live.

That is what love means to me <3

Love is doing things you don't want to do because you know they make the other person happy.

... when your heart fills with so much love it feels as though it will burst and brings tears to the eyes. My husband, my children, my grandchild have all given me such love and joy. I feel blessed.

Love is...laughter and tears, success and heartbreak, health scares and triumphs, a dozen phone calls a day "just because," and falling asleep each night safe in the arms of your best friend who still thinks after 15years you are the most desirable woman in the world.

Love is...so many different things and feelings. It encompasses our feelings in every kind of relationship there is. It guides our thoughts, choices and actions towards one another each and every day. Love is patient, kind, thoughtful, forgiving, and is unconditional. Love sacrifices all for what is right and true. Love covers our imperfection and holds up every good thing for all to see. Love is.

Love is arguing with your husband, but wanting to turn to him to be soothe and getting it. Love is sleepless nights when your children are sick. Love is telling your children "No" once in a while because you know what's best for them, even if those sad faces break your heart. Love is keeping a straight "mad Mom" face even your children say the funniest explanation so your kids will learn to be safe. Love is the feeling when you hug your family and they hug you back.

The old guy in "Room Four" talking about how he hopes to see Millie his wife again and he doesn't want God to get in the way with a bunch of church talk because he and Millie will have so much catching up to do.

After a difficult argument while we were dating, my (now) husband wrote this to me:

"Love to me is waiting by the door for you to get here and standing in the driveway when you leave. Love is an eager, warm hug on a cold day. Love is not comfortable and it is uncomfortable not to have. Love is dying to myself every day to see you live. Love is living a nightmare to watch your dreams come true. Love is undefinable but it is atainable. God loved us, so we should love eachother. I love you and I hope you love me too. You are my best friend and I do not take that, or my love for you lightly. Please be my love"

I'll be honest, I'm not the lovey-dovey type, so I can't give you a sweet story like everyone else is doing (don't get be wrong, I said "aww" too... I just can't write one!)

To me, love is about respect. I'm not talking about demanding respect, but rather how respect plays a part in every other aspect of a relationship. I believe it's the basis for any type of relationship - a marriage, a friendship, what have you.

When respect comes trust, honesty, compromise, faithfulness, empathy, and comfort. And all those added together create a loving relationship.

It is doing a favor, not because you expect one in return, but because you know that it will be appreciated.

It's the ability to stop and say "I'm sorry for getting mad, please let's not fight?"

It's putting up with all the little things, even though they drive you CRAZY.

It's being able to take your significant other at their word.

It's understanding their frustrations, and trying to fix it - even if you mess up over and over again.

It's laughing at a mistake not because of the mistake itself, but because you find it so endearing.

It's going to the symphony/monster truck rally/ballet/wrestling tournament, even though YOU think its silly, because it makes you happy to see them happy.

It's rooting for them, even if they're in last place.

It's doing all that not because you think you should, but because you know you want to.

Love is closing your eyes and being able to pick your love out of a crowd, love is never doubting they will be there forever, love is looking in their eyes and knowing without a word that they care.
